…When you’re county builds a sick library with a aesthetically pleasing garden to sit in while studying. That they include a Gingerbread man statue certainly helps.

And yes, that would be my Star Wars vintage lunch box and a PB&J there, son. Giddyup.

  1. AWESOME lunch box! I think that beats my star wars light saber cereal spoon I got from a box of cereal years ago….it used to light up too, but I think the blub is dead. Here is a picture of it on my site (at the bottom of this post about the lack of cool toys in cereal today): http://fedupfood.com/2012/04/07/empty-boxes-empty-hearts/

I agree, what’s up with the lack of toys in cereal? An unfortunate byproduct of society attempting to curb childhood obesity, I’m afraid…

      • Dude, no…It is ‘Big-Cereal’ realizing it is cheaper to add sugar than it is to add toys. It seems like almost every new cereal launched these days is some form of dessert-made-breakfast. Have you seen the Cinnabon stuff…haha or those Churrios? Crazy stuff.
I get real angry at the thought of all the poor deprived kids who grow up not experiencing the joy of buying a whole box of cereal for a chap plastic toy. Seriously. Cereal with out toys is like Christmas without presents.

Hate to break it to you, but cereal has been pumped up with sugar for a long time, and it’s still had toys. I’m pretty sure the Lucky Charms I was eating 10 years ago in middle school (actually, I am sure) had more sugar in the ones now, and a lot less whole grains. And they also had toys. Agree toys are great and cost cutting is part of the issue, but I wouldn’t say it’s cheaper to add sugar than toys. Box sizes have shrunk too. I guess I see it as something like the Happy Meal issue. Include a toy in something not labled ‘healthy,’ and you’re going to piss off someone, so why even risk it if your General Mills?

      • Good point! I just sometimes get annoyned with how it seems the majority of cereals in grocery stores are more dessert-like than healthy breakfast options.

And you are absolutely correct…Cereal boxes have gotten smaller and smaller! Unless you go to Sam’s where you can get a ‘feed-Africa’ sized box of Cheerios for dirt-cheap.

It is sad how political correct and hyper cautious everyone has to be to avoid getting sued.

I wish they would bring back the toys. Breakfast is just not the same anymore.
