Pumpkin Season Has Arrived

It started last weekend when I had my prerequisite right of fall eating with a Pumpkin Bagel with Pumpkin Schmear, but it didn’t end there. I’ve been spotting a veritable buttload of pumpkin eats over the last week, including Kellogg’s infamous Pumpkin Spice waffles, as well as new Archer Farms Pumpkin Muffins and my beloved Edy’s Pumpkin Ice Cream. Word is, even Panera Bread is getting a Pumpkin Bagel.

I may be no Scott Sevener, but I do love me some pumpkin (speaking of which, can a guy get a pumpkin pie flavored cereal, please?). For no other reason than the love of all things orange, I’m more or less intent on documenting each of these finds, starting with my beloved Einstein’s Bros. Pumpkin Bagel and Schmear.

This is no donut in disguise, mind you. It’s everything you want in a bagel — chewy on the outside, warm and bready with lots of air pickets and pull-apart, yeasty dough, within – with a hint of fall spice and just malty sweetness. The cream cheese schmear is a bit on the vicious side, but it has a sweet, creamy flavor that reminds me of a pumpkin mousse. Actually, it reminds me of a better, richer version of my Grandma’s pumpkin mousse, which might just be the greatest dessert ever created for Weight Watchers.

Anyone else a pumpkin fan with some early fall eats and treats? How about other fall flavored treats? Let me know your picks for the ones to check out!

  1. YES! Im so excited. I never (hardly ever) eat junk food, BUT Pumpkin Pie Pop Tarts just came out and I am dying to try them. Just a bite a swear!! :D

    • One of the few Pop-Tarts that are worth it, it my opinion. BTW, I’m going to add your blog to my sidebar. Been meaning to do that. Thanks for reading!

  2. Pumpkin bread is a must!!! I just saw a pumpkin flavored yogurt and cream cheese today at target.

    • I saw the yogurt and cream cheese too. I was tempted to buy the cream cheese, but it’s actually super simple to make your own by whipping up a little canned pumpkin, sugar, milk, and spices with cream cheese.

  3. Target had pumpkin pancake mix, pumpkin spice granola cereal, and the pumpkin hershey kisses!

  4. The best thing about fall has to be all the fresh apple cider donuts you can get from the orchards around me. It’s a saddening sight when the season is over and you have to suffer through 3 seasons without those treats.

    • 3 seasons without? How come? For all the donuts I’ve eaten I’ve never gone to Apple Cider route. Sounds like a great fall to brak that tradition

      • Once the orchards close for the season, the majority of apple cider donuts go as well. Sure you can find some in gas stations and grocery stores possibly into November but once winter creeps in you won’t be seeing them until the beginning of fall the next year. Also it just doesn’t feel the same eating an apple cider donut in any other season but fall. Give an apple cider donut a shot though and let me know what you think.

  5. Holy cow, that looks like a delicious bagel. Makes me wish they were in Canada
